Xavi is a 12 year old gorilla from Barcelona Zoo with a very special quality: read and understand any textbook in Catalan, if it contains too many technical terms that Xavi does not know. For more than 3 years a group of biologists, educators and experts in these noble and intelligent animals have instructed Xavi Catalan reading and sign language. This
scientists understand and Xavi and attest that the primate could understand the texts he read. This experiment has been a milestone in this type of learning, Xavi continues to read books and educational texts, learning and acquiring more knowledge. Currently studying and learning books for primary and secondary courses first, but in the future try to continue with courses following, adapted for the monkey obviously up to university level. Hopefully research will continue and progress with Xavi, try to arrange an interview with our sympathetic friend in future editions.
